Library
Librarian Chris Colby is happy to be here at BAM. She was previously at Longellow Middle School and with Oakland Unified in the elementary literacy program. She lives in Oakland with her husband and dog Mooley, who looks and acts a lot like Martha in "Martha Speaks." She enjoys photography, reading and music, not to mention reading.
Librarian Chris' book & author recommendations:
And for the parents, some of her favorite adult authors right now are: Arundhati Roy, Michael Eric Dyson, Helen S. Kim (A Long Season of Rain) among others.Library hours
BAM K-3 classes visit the library weekly.
BAM 4-5 classes visit the library every other week.
The BAM Library catalog is available online. Pick out a book or two from home before library day.
Check-Out Policies2nd-5th grade students must return overdue books before they can check out new books. Kindergarten and first grade students must return their book, even if it is not late, before they can check out a new book.
If a book is really lost, the book must be paid for before a new book can be checked out. About nine times out of ten, these books are usually somewhere in the house. It's worth it to take the time to look for these books with your children. If you have paid for a book that is found, we will gladly return your money.
MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD CAN CHECK OUT A BOOK EVERY WEEK
Big thank you to Parent Library Volunteers Ellen Shandalove, Mantra Plonsey, Stephanie Johnson, and Margaret Thompson.
More volunteers needed to shelve books and assist with checkout. Please add your name to the volunteer schedule on the library doors or email Chris cristinalive2005@yahoo.com so she can sign you up. Even a one-time visit helps. Volunteer slots are available:
